Silver (a LOT of silver!), gold, copper, bronze, rose gold and everything in between - metallics ruled the red carpet at yesterday's Golden Globe Awards alongside bejewelled bows, beaded star motifs, even splashes of lame (yes, it actually happened!) But it wasn't just about embellishments, there were entire gowns draped in sequins, just like the beautiful Louis Vuitton creation worn by Ruth Negga. Designed Vuitton's creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere, Ruth's gown took120 hours in total to complete with each sequin hand-sewn onto the fabric at Vuitton's very special atelier in Paris.

Could this heavy metal trend be a nod to the sci-fi future of fashion or simply a flash back to the 70's disco era? One thing's for sure - everyone loves a little bit of sparkle in their lives and I have no doubt that we are set to see this trend filter through into Ready-To-Wear collections for 2017.
